Course Overview
Build Your First AI Agent: A Hands-On Workshop for Business Professionals is a 4-hour course that teaches participants how to build an effective AI agent to automate routine, repeatable work tasks. The methods apply to all major AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok. It is delivered live, in person or virtually (synchronous), during work hours. It follows a standardized curriculum of instructor presentations, live demonstrations, and guided hands-on work built on a common practice scenario, followed by peer and group review of participants' work.
What You'll Learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain what an AI agent is and how it differs from a standard chatbot, identify which tasks are good candidates for an agent, and write clear instructions for that agent. They will learn to connect an agent to business tools such as email, spreadsheets, calendars, and documents, test its outputs, and revise the agent when results are wrong. Participants will also learn to set guardrails for accuracy, data privacy, and human review before an agent takes action. Topics include AI fundamentals, instruction and prompt design, tool and data connections, multi-step workflows, testing methods, and responsible AI use. Participants build and test a practice agent in class, then apply the same method to map out an agent for a task from their own role.

Why It Matters
AI proficiency is becoming a critical skill for many jobs, but most people use AI only for one-off questions or searches. Building an AI agent lets participants use AI to assist with more complex workflows. This course develops participants' AI skills so they can reduce time spent on manual tasks, improve consistency, and use AI effectively in their roles.
